So there are a lot more ways to directly hurt a submarine, the problem with CVs is unless you can locate the CV you can’t stop the planes and your relying mostly on RNG AA guns to take out planes. Oh and torpedoes from ships can hit a surfaced or periscope depth sub as well. And if you think those rocket planes are bad as a DD, try bring a submarine surfaced and with worse armor than a DD since subs just mainly had the metal just thick enough to act as a pressure hull against the water, not really meant to be taking shell fire. Surface ships also seem to survive ramming a sub and lose surprisingly little HP for it while the sub perishes. Also you can’t fire Torps as a sub unless at periscope depth or surfaced, shells can hit you when detected even at periscope depth. Depth charges have fairly sizable blast radius and looking the models many ships have in game, some are very generously loaded with depth charge launchers including some ships that looks as if they could through 1-2 dozen depth charges at a time. Thing is though ships could naturally detect you at 3Km or so. Simple, controlling torp Reload, sub HP, damage done per Torpedo, time you stay submerged, time it takes to dive.Īlso based on the Halloween subs you needed to be within 5km or less to have any hope of scoring a torp hit, my preference was 3km. They cannot even balance CVs how would they balance subs?
